Students may request admission to any of the Interdisciplinary Studies programs after the completion of 15 semester hours of coursework.
Applicants must have completed a minimum of 15 graded hours at Illinois State with a cumulative ISU GPA of 3.00 or higher.

After approval of the proposal (including the rationale and proposed plan of study) by the departments or schools offering the courses, the Interdisciplinary Studies Coordinator, and the Provost's Office, the major plan of study is filed with the Office of the Registrar Evaluations. At this point the major or minor is officially declared.
Once the plan of study is filed, students are expected to monitor their progress in their Student Center; as well as meeting with the IDS academic advisor once a semester.
